December’s Featured Local Artist is Sunday Cruise! Formed in 2017 by Zoe (guitar/vocals), Cassidy (bass), Levi (drums), and Camden (lead guitar), they first began performing in the summer of 2018 when they entered a “battle of the bands” competition held at Side Street Studios in Elgin. The competition ran all summer long, starting with 16 bands from the Chicagoland area. In the end, Sunday Cruise made it through to the end and were crowned the winners! They received a $1,000 prize, which was used to record and release their first EP, Sunday Cruise, along with a few singles that were released after. In 2020, they released their first album, Am I Pretty?, that includes the song “Philophobia,” which has gotten over 6 million streams on Spotify to date.

Sunday Cruise continued to play shows throughout Chicago and surrounding suburbs, and in 2021, they released their second album, SCREAMING IN THE MIRROR. In the summer of 2022, they traveled to the west coast on their first tour for the release of their second EP, I Should’ve Stayed Home. They started the tour in Seattle and played their way down to Portland, San Francisco, LA, San Diego and ended in Chicago.

In the beginning of this year, Sunday Cruise was accepted as an Official Artist at SXSW in Austin, TX and in March of 2023, they attended and performed at SXSW. In October, their latest single, “Oh Lover, Why,” was released, and in 2024, they’ll be releasing their third full length album.
