Years at WONC: 2019-2022

Lucas began his time at WONC doing only newscasts and sports, but his involvement in the sports department was quite heavy. He called many baseball and softball games his first year, even earning Best Play-By-Play (Baseball) at the 2020 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards. His sophomore year, he continued expanding his role in the Sports Department, adding football and basketball broadcasts to his duties, as well as hosting From the Upper Deck. He also began taking on-air DJ shifts, covering almost every hour of the day at some point, including overnights. In 2021, Lucas was named Sports Director and Station Manager.

In the summer of 2021, Lucas was hired as the play-by-play voice of Pistol Shrimp Baseball, a summer collegiate team located in Peru, Illinois. The Pistol Shrimp are a member of the Prospect league, a college summer league with 17 teams spanning from Iowa to Pennsylvania. After graduation, in August of 2022, he was hired as the Assistant General Manager of Pistol Shrimp Baseball. In 2023, he was hired by the Prospect League as Manager of Digital and Strategic, helping manage the Prospect League website and social media accounts, and hosting the Prospect League Podcast.

In addition to his work with the Pistol Shrimp, Lucas also calls sports on 103.9 WLPO, the flagship station of the Pistol Shrimp and home of high school sports in the Illinois Valley.
