Connor (bass/guitar/vocals), Kelly (guitar/vocals), Dave (bass/guitar/vocals), Dom (drums), and Mike (vocals) are Det Metra, a 5-piece indie/garage rock/self-described “hippie punk” band based in Chicago. After playing in a variety of bands in the Chicagoland area over the years, they began writing music together in 2019, and while the global pandemic initially restricted what the band could do, they’ve since hit the ground running with no signs of slowing down. They first recorded together in 2021, releasing “I’ll Do Anything” and “Shnubalub.” 2022 was a busy year for the band, releasing new music throughout the year, including “Basement Coke,” which debuted with a music video in October.
They also played around the Chicagoland area a ton this year at venues like the Lemon (Chicago), Beat Kitchen (Chicago), The Extraordinarium (Chicago), and The Darkroom (Elgin), as well as some road trips to The Powder Room (Urbana), The Mirror (Urbana), and Stumbling Blow (Normal). In the spring, they played on the campus of North Central College for Springfest.
