Last December, my family and I went on a cruise for winter break. This was my second time going on a cruise, and it was a favorable escape from routines for a week.
The room we stayed in was attached to a balcony, so we enjoyed a view of the sea with a gentle breeze blowing. The first day, we spent exploring the ship and all the activities that the ship offered. Everyone celebrated when the cruise began its journey to the first island; there was a lively party by the pool. I was swimming, some people were dancing, and others were devouring some delicious tacos.
The first destination was the Bahamas. I appreciated staying on the sand while waves crashed on the shore. I read an enlightening book while absorbing the moment. The next destination was San Juan in Puerto Rico, where a driver directed us to all the tourist spots. He also shared some history for each location. One building we visited was originally a prison. The last destination that we visited was St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Steering a bus, the tour guide helped us discover beautiful sites on the island. The roads were uneven, which reinforced the feeling of adventure. Some tour guides spoke throughout the journey, but it seemed our tour guide’s voice was trapped in his throat.
There was live entertainment every night on the ship, whether it was a musical, an aerial show, or a performance with acrobatics. The different acts were my favorite part of the trip; the individuals were truly talented. I was memorized and at the end of my seat during every show. Moreover, the cruise director also hosted a game of Yes and No, where volunteers were asked a series of questions and had to answer the questions without saying Yes or No; the director’s remarks were amusing. Me, my mom, and my brother also participated in a game of Bingo but unfortunately the numbers were against us that day. Another thing that my mother and my brother did was test their luck in the daily raffle; in one instance, they won a gift bag.
My favorite place to eat on the ship was The Eclipse, and I dined on their salmon and pasta dishes. There was also an ice cream place that I thoroughly appreciated. I savored many different types of pizzas, too.
Further, vacations are always special when you experience them with your family and make memories that last a lifetime.
