In my 22 years of living, I’ve been lucky to see many bands such as Bad Religion, My Chemical Romance, and Green Day. There’s one thing that all these bands have in common and it’s not just the fact that they’re amazing and absolutely iconic. All the concerts I’ve seen so far have been on land! You may be thinking, “Well of course they would be on land; where else can you see your favorite bands?” That’s where The Emo’s Not Dead Cruise comes in.
Emo’s Not Dead (E.N.D.) is a nostalgia-based clothing brand and community founded by musician Matt Cutshall who was the vocalist for It Boys! He’s also known for the emo revival project Your Broken Hero, which is connected to the Emo’s Not Dead brand, known for the many live events and cruises they have. Most recently, The Emo’s Not Dead cruise set sail from January 22-26, going from Miami to Costa Maya, Mexico. The lineup consisted of many well-known bands such as The Used, Story of the Year, Senses Fail, Hot Mulligan, State Champs, August Burns Red, and many more. Although it’s a year away, the next Emo’s Not Dead Cruise is celebrating their 5th anniversary! The cruise is set to sail from Miami to Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas.
Although I’m usually best at guessing the lineup for music festivals on land such as Sonic Temple, Riot Fest, & Louder Than Life, the nostalgia that The Emo’s Not Dead Cruise brings makes me believe they’ll continue to do the same or create an even bigger splash with the 5th anniversary. In the past, the cruise has had bands like Yellowcard, Mayday Parade, and Sleeping with Sirens. For 2027, I feel like we can expect some older bands like Jimmy Eat World who’ll be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Bleed American, as well as Alexisonfire and All time Low. Even though E.N.D is known for nostalgia, they usually have a good mix of newer artists as well and for this I would hope to see bands such as L.S Dunes, Real Friends, and Magnolia Park.
Even though I’m a landlubber with my concert experiences, I don’t think I’d mind taking a swim to see some of my favorites, especially in tropical places like the Bahamas! On the other hand, I’m still a college student, so I’ll keep making my lists out of hopes and dreams. Until next year!
