The Millionaires are Back: Party Girl Music at Its Finest

by Sophia Fischer

The Millionaires released a new track, “P.P.G (Professional Party Girl),” on November 7th. The last album produced by The Millionaires was Tonight in 2013, and from 2015 through 2024, they released 6 singles. Their new single brings them back to their 2010 days with a party girl vibe from their top EP, 2010’s Cash Only. The Millionaires were peak “scene kid” and I think this comeback is intentional.

The Millionaires dropped their first EP, Bling Bling Bling!, in 2007. They brought an electropop feel mixed with explicit lyrics with hip hop and rave vibes. The group consists of sisters Melissa and Allison Green and their friend Dani Artaud. Popularized through MySpace, they toured throughout California in 2008 and created a number of theme songs for MTV shows, and in 2009, they dropped their second EP, Just Got Paid, Let’s Get Laid. Both of these EPs have that electropop energy giving early 2000s scene kids their energy. In 2010, they released what I think is their top EP, Cash Only.

Cash Only includes hits like “Party Like a Millionaire” and “Stay The Night,” both diving more into a hyperpop dance vibe, and their new single gives me the same energy as Cash Only. The Millionaires have always had a signature “party girl” look. All the girls are covered in colorful tattoos with big teased, emo hair. Melissa Green is known for her big hot pink bow worn in every photo and at every show. “P.P.G (Professional Party Girl)” makes me want to put on a hot pink bow and a studded belt.

When The Millionaires were releasing music regularly, they received a lot of backlash due to their explicit, sexy lyrics. Their new single, however, doesn’t shy away from explicit lyrics and it has exactly the party vibe the world needs. When Brat by Charli XCX came out, people got a taste of that hyperpop dance music. Having the old scene queens come back with a single that matches their old vibe is awesome and exciting.

The song itself is really good. With a pop beat and electro vibes, this song makes you want to dance and party, which was obviously their intention, and I think they did a good job of doing that. Overall, I’m excited to see how the older kids will react to this new song, as well as the new kids, especially with the resurgence of Warped Tour and early 2010s aesthetic that’s making a comeback.
