Years at WONC: 1977-1981


In his time at WONC, Bob wore many hats. He was an on-air DJ, specialty show host, newscaster, and occasional color commentator for sports broadcasts. He also served as the News Director from 1977-1978, and was the Station Manager from 1980-1981. In 1981, he was named the Outstanding Student Broadcaster. In the summer of 1980, Bob was on the committee that helped select John Madormo, WONC’s longest tenured General Manager.

Bob has had many stops on his radio journey. He worked at WAUR FM/WMRO AM in Aurora from 1978-1981; KYKS in Lufkin, TX from 1981-82; KJCS FM & KEEE AM in Nacogdoches from 1982-83; KKBQ AM/FM in Houston from 1983-1991; Mix 96.5 in Houston from 1991-1992; Z107 in Houston in 1993; KSBJ in Houston from 2013-2014. In addition to his career in radio, Bob also hosted a morning TV show, Videocity Live, a Top 10 music video countdown show on NBC Houston, from 1986-1990.

After leaving broadcasting full-time in 1991, Bob created his own marketing business, and in 2020, he joined SpeakEZ Communications as Director of Business Development.
