I’ve been a Bears fan since I started watching football in 2018, and on Sunday, I had a great time going to my first ever Bears game.
I went with my aunt, and the day started early because we wanted to be there early and check out all the tailgates, so we got up at 6 a.m. and left at 7 to head to the stadium. Trying to find parking was a pain because we didn’t know that we had to pre-pay for parking, so we had to find a lot that wasn’t pre-pay only.
We eventually found one and went to the big tailgate going on in the parking lot that we were in. We saw a lot of fans wearing different jerseys of Bears players with the funniest one being a Mitch Trubisky jersey that someone used tape to cover the 0 and the name to make it into a Caleb Williams jersey. After we left that tailgate, we went to the huge one going on in the south parking lot. At that tailgate I said to my aunt, “This is the most amount of Bears fans I’ve ever seen at once.”
When we left that tailgate, we went to the Bears kids zone next to the stadium where we watched the Bears drum team play for a couple minutes. We then went into the stadium for the game and were super excited to check out our seats. That was the first place we went, and we really had the perfect seats. We were behind the south end zone, and the sun was behind us so we could see the whole field without the sun in our eyes. After we checked out our seats, we walked around the stadium looking at everything that was going on and we took pictures of the stadium and in front of the “First Bears Game” poster.
The game experience was great since we were surrounded by so many Bears fans that were so loud for every Bears play and so nice and fun to be around. It sucked that Caleb Williams wasn’t playing but the fans didn’t care. They were going to cheer for whoever was playing. The Bears dominated the game; they had more first downs than the Jets had offensive plays! They won 23-12, so it was cool for my first game to be a Bears win.
After the game, we went to the pro shop to look at jerseys and it was extremely crowded. I didn’t end up getting anything, but my aunt got a stitched Devin Hester jersey. Ending the day on a high note, everyone chanted “Green Bay Sucks!” as we were leaving the stadium. The whole experience was like nothing I’ve ever done before.
I’ve been to a lot of MLB games, but baseball isn’t my favorite sport. Football is, so to be able to go to my first NFL game with my aunt, the person that made me a Bears fan, was amazing. I definitely hope to go back some day, maybe even again this season. If I do, hopefully I’ll get to see Caleb Williams play. Bear Down!
