Jesse Hudgins Interviews Sweetie Frontwoman Birdy Vee

Four years ago, through Alternage, I was introduced to Chicago-based punk band Sweetie. From meeting the band, I found out about Hands Off Our Fest (H.O.O.F), a festival put together by Sweetie’s lead singer, Birdy Vee, celebrating the femmes and thems of the Chicago punk scene. Having attended two H.O.O.Fs, I can say it’s a wonderful addition to the Chicago punk scene. Last year, Sweetie released their album, La Vie en Rouge, which is nothing short of great and shows a great evolution of the band. I got the chance to talk to singer Birdy Vee about the album, H.O.O.F, the future of the band, and horror movies.
