In his time at North Central, Sam garnered years of field experience in journalism and communications. Through WONC, Sam had the privilege of covering multiple NCAA Division III Football National Championships as well as other North Central athletics such as baseball, softball, and basketball as a broadcaster. After completing his undergraduate degree in journalism, Sam pursued his master’s degree in professional writing while working as a graduate assistant in North Central’s athletics communication office.

As an athletics communication graduate assistant, Sam took on the gameday responsibilities of numerous sports, including men’s wrestling, softball, basketball, and soccer. Through his time in athletics communications, Sam has developed skills such as the use of live stats programs, live broadcast setup, and various editing programs. Sam has been able to utilize his two years as a graduate assistant to refine and polish his writing through student-athlete features, game recaps, and more.
