The Best Day of My Life: Seeing Pierce the Veil Live

by Itzel Nunez

As a big music lover, going to concerts is one of the best experiences. Instead of saving up to go on vacation or buy myself something expensive, I would much rather buy concert tickets and get to hear my favorite musicians live. This year was the year I got to see my favorite band, Pierce the Veil, perform live and it truly felt like a dream come true. As someone who’s loved their music for years, being able to experience the songs that carried me throughout the past years felt life changing, especially since I was lucky enough to be second to front barricade and was only a couple feet away from the stage. The wait was long, but worth every second!

When Pierce the Veil announced their I Can’t Hear You headlining tour, it was a big deal for me. Even though they’ve performed around the area, I never had the opportunity to attend any of their shows before. They played at Lollapalooza in 2024, which was huge for them. According to New Noise Magazine, even lead singer Vic Fuentes said it was the largest crowd they’ve ever played in front of. Unfortunately for me, I was out of town that same weekend. It wasn’t until later that year that they finally announced a headlining tour and this time I made sure to get tickets.

The concert was on June 7 in Tinley Park. I still remember the day as if it were yesterday. I woke up very early that morning and immediately got moving. The show wasn’t until 8PM, but since I wanted to try to get a close spot, I got there around 9AM. It was a long wait, but the view was going to be worth it.  As average GA Pit tickets go, the spots are first come first served, so I had to be there early enough. I don’t do this for all concerts, but I had to for my favorite band. I mean, who wouldn’t?

I’d been anticipating this concert for the longest time, so the moment they pulled down the curtains and started playing, I couldn’t help but tear up. The crowd went crazy as well, and I was constantly being pushed forward most of the time (as you would expect in the pit section). Even though I came to the concert with some friends, they were all the way toward the back of the pit, so I was basically on my own. Personally, I don’t mind being alone at concerts since it means I don’t have to keep up with someone. The whole time, I was happily singing along and immersing myself in the music.

Looking back, that night was truly unforgettable. I’ll never forget the energy, the sound, and the connection Pierce the Veil never fails to create with their fans. This experience reminded me why they’ve always been my favorite band: the way they can make the crowd feel understood through every lyric and pour all their emotion into each performance. I will forever be grateful to have had this experience and can’t wait to be able to see them again! To me it was more than just a concert; it was the best day of my life.
